The Keralam State Cabinet, led by Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, convened on Wednesday to formally dissolve the Loka Kerala Sabha, a body previously constituted to represent non-resident Keralites globally. The Cabinet resolved to replace this structure with a newly proposed alternative mechanism to provide more direct and efficient assistance to expatriates. A high-level Cabinet sub-committee headed by the Chief Minister was formed to oversee the transition and finalize the institutional framework.
In addition, the state executive focused on disaster relief following severe weather disruptions across several districts. The government sanctioned ₹8 lakh each for the families of individuals who lost their lives in recent rain-related incidents, following confirmation of nine fatalities and one missing person. District authorities and state departments were directed to accelerate relief distribution, provide emergency shelter, and ensure uninterrupted supply lines and medical aid in flood-hit areas.
