Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that his government is exploring legal options, in consultation with experts, to shut down the Karnataka Public Service Commission. Using sharp language, he alleged that thieves had been stationed inside the recruiting body.

The remarks follow a Karnataka High Court order for a Special Investigation Team, headed by senior IPS officer Alok Kumar, to conduct a fresh probe into an alleged veterinary officer recruitment scam involving about 400 Group A posts. Investigators allege middlemen demanded up to Rs 80 lakh per post, with candidates taken outside the state to be coached with leaked question papers and answers, alongside manipulated OMR answer sheets.

The commission’s examination controller was recently remanded to Enforcement Directorate custody over the alleged sale of question papers. Shivakumar questioned who had appointed those involved and who was running the network, while noting that any move to dissolve the constitutional body would have to follow legal procedures.
