Two aides of Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president KT Rama Rao have alleged they were attacked by 25 to 30 masked men inside the Saifabad police station on September 14. The public relations officer and personal assistant, Manikya Mahesh and Mahender Reddy, said they were called to the station for questioning regarding an earlier case and were held there from 10 am until midnight, with the alleged assault taking place in the afternoon. They stated that officers on site did not register their complaint about the assault.
Khairatabad Deputy Commissioner of Police K Shilpavalli denied that any attack occurred, stating that CCTV footage showed no assault and that the incident actually involved a separate group of men seeking permission for a Ganesh Chaturthi DJ event who briefly argued with the aides and police before leaving. The underlying case stems from a September 10 FIR accusing the aides of abusing on-duty officers during a BRS protest at the Telangana Assembly. Although the Telangana High Court did not quash the FIR when challenged, it barred the arrest of both men and directed police to investigate without taking coercive action.
KT Rama Rao condemned the incident as extremely heinous, accused the Congress government of allowing a rule of rowdies and goons, and demanded that a sitting judge lead an inquiry. The episode has escalated tensions and become a flashpoint in the broader confrontation between the BRS and the state government.
