Suspected militants carried out two separate attacks in Manipur’s Tamenglong and Noney districts on September 13, killing four members of the Kuki-Zo community and injuring an infant. In the first attack at Tollen Kuki village, gunmen killed a woman and critically wounded her husband, who later died while being taken to a hospital, and also hurt the couple’s infant son. In the second incident at Longpi village, armed men opened fire on villagers returning home with essential supplies, killing two more people, including another woman.

Local Kuki civil society organisations blamed cadres linked to the NSCN-IM and the Zeliangrong United Front-K, although no group claimed responsibility and police had not officially confirmed the assailants’ identity or affiliation by the following day. Manipur’s Chief Minister condemned the killings and promised a thorough investigation, while security forces were deployed to prevent further violence. No further incidents were reported in the two districts in the immediate aftermath of the killings.
