Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that its naval forces struck a United States unmanned surface vessel in the Strait of Hormuz to stop an aggressive mission near Iranian waters. Meanwhile, maritime security monitors reported that projectiles struck two vessels off the coast of Oman around the same time.

The United States Central Command disputed the Iranian account, stating that no American vessel was destroyed and that Iranian attempts to strike US naval assets failed. The command also rejected an earlier Iranian claim that two US Navy destroyers were hit.

The incidents have raised tensions in the strategic corridor, which carries a significant share of global seaborne oil supplies. Global oil prices have risen sharply, shipping insurers are reassessing risk premiums, and analysts caution that it is difficult to independently verify the scale of damage or the sequence of events.
