The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against six Ukrainian nationals and one American national, Matthew Aaron Van Dyke, in a case linked to an alleged Myanmar-based terror training camp. The accused are formally charged under the Immigration and Foreigners Act rather than terrorism-specific statutes.

Officials stated that the decision to file charges under the Foreigners Act was driven by statutory bail timelines, as these offenses were established clearly enough during the investigation to support formal charges without delay. However, the agency clarified that it has not dropped its broader Unlawful Activities Prevention Act probe, and the anti-terror investigation remains ongoing.

The seven individuals were taken into custody as part of an investigation into suspected links to militant training activity outside India, with investigators examining the group’s travel history, financing, and connections to the Myanmar facility. The case has drawn particular attention in Telangana due to its Hyderabad link and the involvement of foreign nationals.
