Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and his family, as well as Zerodha founders Nithin and Nikhil Kamath along with their mother Revathi Kamath, are among prominent names flagged during Karnataka’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Nilekani and his family were classified as “unmapped with last SIR” because their names could not be matched with rolls from the previous 2002 revision. Meanwhile, the Kamath family was flagged in the Bangalore South Assembly constituency due to a “parents’ name mismatch” between current and historical records.

Election Commission officials stated that receiving a notice or appearing on a discrepancy list does not automatically cancel voting rights, but usually requires submitting additional documentation to confirm registration continuity. Affected voters are given a window to respond and submit documents before any names are considered for removal. Critics argue the process flags legitimate voters over minor clerical or historical issues, while officials defend it as a necessary cleanup to resolve accumulated discrepancies and maintain voter list integrity.
