Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a ballistic missile attack targeting US military assets at the King Hussein and Al Azraq air bases in Jordan. Tehran stated the attack was retaliation for a US strike the previous day on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Jordanian armed forces reported that a majority of the missiles fired toward the kingdom were intercepted, with sources varying on the exact number launched and intercepted between roughly ten and thirteen.

Jordanian officials summoned regional diplomats to brief them on the strikes and emphasized that the kingdom’s forces intercepted the bulk of the incoming missiles before they caused casualties or major damage. Al Azraq had already faced earlier rounds of Iranian missile fire in previous weeks. Meanwhile, oil prices climbed above $100 a barrel in early trading due to market anxiety over regional energy infrastructure and Gulf shipping lanes.
