Senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, along with other party lawmakers and council members, were detained by police during a protest near the Telangana Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad. The opposition leaders wore black T-shirts to mark 1,000 days of Congress governance and gathered at Gun Park to chant slogans accusing the ruling party of failing to fulfill election guarantees made to farmers, backward classes, and government employees.

Tensions escalated as police set up barricades and cleared the venue ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Assembly, leading to physical tussles between law enforcement and BRS supporters. KT Rama Rao stated he suffered minor injuries from excessive police force, and several BRS MLAs and MLCs were placed in police vehicles and taken to nearby stations.

The BRS demanded an extended month-long Assembly session to discuss public grievances such as agricultural distress and labor issues, and opposition leaders vowed that police coercion would not stop them from highlighting administrative shortcomings. The incident sparked protests by BRS workers across multiple Telangana districts, prompting heightened security around the Assembly complex.
