Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao will personally lead a public agitation against the state’s Congress government. The protests will accuse the administration of neglecting two major irrigation schemes built during his tenure: the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project’s barrages and the Palamuru-Rangareddy scheme.

Party legislators stated that the Kaleshwaram project currently holds water that the state is failing to lift and distribute to farmers, while the Palamuru-Rangareddy project has stalled since the BRS lost power. The demonstrations are expected to begin after the current monsoon session of the Telangana assembly concludes.

This move marks a visible political re-entry for Rao following his party’s defeat in the 2023 state elections and a period largely out of public view. The Congress government has previously defended its handling of the projects, citing inherited structural and financial issues.
