The Karnataka Administrative Tribunal has stayed the suspension of two government school employees in Yadgir district. The state’s education department had penalised the teachers for taking part in an RSS route march in Hunasagi last October, accusing them of violating conduct rules that bar civil servants from political activity.

The teachers argued that the event took place on a Sunday outside working hours and was cultural rather than political. The tribunal agreed, recording a finding that the RSS is not a political party and that attending its programme did not breach conduct rules.

The stay order pauses the suspensions while the broader dispute continues to be litigated, and both teachers are expected to resume their duties in the meantime. The tribunal’s order does not finally resolve whether service conduct rules were breached, leaving that for further proceedings.
