Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged irregularities in the 2025 Mega District Selection Committee teacher recruitment exercise. Speaking to the media, Reddy alleged that ineligible candidates were appointed instead of genuinely qualified aspirants and demanded the resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh. He highlighted a Kurnool district case where a backward-class candidate scoring 65 marks in the Teacher Eligibility Test, despite needing 75, was appointed as a school assistant under the sports quota. Reddy also alleged that similar irregularities occurred in multiple districts and that state government officials could not be trusted to conduct an impartial inquiry.

The YSRCP chief further criticized the use of a government order to fill 40 Forest Department sports-quota posts without a written examination while recruitment for hundreds of other posts remained stalled. His allegations build on an ongoing campaign where his party has accused the ruling Telugu Desam Party-led coalition of manipulating merit lists, allowing a question paper leak, and misusing the sports quota. Reddy offered to subject his own government’s 2018 recruitment exercises to a CBI inquiry if Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu agrees to the same for the 2025 drive.

The state government and Lokesh have repeatedly rejected the allegations, with the minister previously arguing in the Assembly that the sports-quota selections were transparent. Meanwhile, the YSRCP stated it has written to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister to seek central intervention and will continue its agitation and legal challenges until an independent probe is ordered.
