Two Indian nationals were killed and two others injured early Friday when their car plunged into Phewa Lake in Pokhara, Nepal. The driver lost control of the Bihar-registered vehicle, which went off the road near the Gaurichautara bend while travelling from Sedi towards the Lakeside area, falling roughly twenty metres into the water at around 4:50 am.

One deceased victim was identified as twenty-six-year-old Navdeep Kumar Yadav from Raxaul in Bihar’s East Champaran district, while local reporting identified the second victim as Priyanshu Pandey from the same area. The two injured occupants, Anmol Kumar Yadav and Suraj Yadav, were rescued and taken to Gandaki Medical College, where they are in stable condition. The two men who died were pulled unconscious from the water and pronounced dead on arrival at the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences.

Around two dozen security personnel were mobilised for the rescue, and a crane eventually retrieved the submerged vehicle, which was taken to the Baidam Ward Police Office as authorities investigate the crash. Nepali police have not yet released details on what caused the driver to lose control.
