Supporters of the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party, led by spokesperson Saurav Das, gathered outside the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi on September 4, 2026. The demonstrators demanded action against a self-styled Hindutva influencer accused of assaulting Sanjay Kumar, a Ghaziabad resident and the father of student activist Nishu Azad. The assault allegedly occurred during a CJP demonstration at Jantar Mantar on June 23, 2026.

The accused, identified as Swatantra Bhardwaj, later posted an online video claiming he fractured Kumar’s skull and that the injury required sixty stitches, while asserting that political connections shielded him from arrest. Delhi Police disputed the severity of these claims, stating the injury resulted from a scuffle where Kumar was struck by a metal bangle, or kada. Police added that a chargesheet would be filed soon and rejected claims of political interference.

Heavy security was deployed around the police station during the targeted protest. CJP leaders have indicated they will continue to escalate pressure on authorities if they feel the case is handled too slowly.
