Maharashtra minister Sunetra Pawar has publicly responded to criticism from her sister-in-law, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule, regarding the stalled investigation into the plane crash that killed Ajit Pawar. Sule had alleged that no formal case has been registered more than seven months after the crash, accused the state government of indifference, and contrasted the lack of action with a swift police response in an unrelated case involving a Raj Thackeray aide.
Sunetra Pawar pushed back against the criticism, stating that no one could feel the loss more deeply than his mother, wife, and children, and noted that the family also wants the probe completed without delay. She appealed to all sides to refrain from politicising the incident and using the family’s grief for point-scoring.
The exchange highlights tensions within the extended Pawar family, whose rival NCP factions split in 2023. While the state government has stated the crash is being examined by air accident investigators and state police, neither side has offered a firm timeline for when a formal police case might be registered.
