Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted and later deleted an artificial intelligence-generated video on social media that appeared to celebrate the deliberate starvation of Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody. The video showed Palestinian men in numbered uniforms moving along a conveyor belt into a detention facility and emerging emaciated and distressed. Ben-Gvir captioned the post with the phrase ‘We promised, we delivered,’ and the video gathered over four million views before being removed from X.

The video drew widespread condemnation, with critics comparing the imagery to Nazi-era concentration camps. A United States senator publicly denounced Ben-Gvir and called for him to be barred from entering the country, while the incident increased international scrutiny of conditions in Israeli prisons during the ongoing war.

Ben-Gvir has not issued a substantive apology, instead framing his broader prisoner policy as a deterrent. Israeli government spokespeople had not issued an official response to the backlash at the time of writing.
