Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran is ready to respond in kind if Washington honors the commitments made under a June interim agreement. Speaking through the semi-official ISNA news agency, Pezeshkian conditioned the offer on U.S. actions rather than promising unprompted concessions. The June arrangement has served as a loose de-escalation framework, though both nations have repeatedly accused each other of violating its terms.
The conciliatory message coincided with American forces carrying out a fresh round of strikes on Iranian targets along the southern coast. This simultaneous military escalation and diplomatic outreach reflects a recurring pattern in the months-long conflict. While Iranian officials condition negotiations on the U.S. halting strikes and lifting sanctions, the government also continues to authorize retaliatory military action.
