Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the latest US campaign of economic pressure against Tehran, warning that any country participating in it is complicit in imposing one state’s unlawful will on independent states. The ministry stated that the US sanctions violate the UN Charter and described Washington’s declaration of economic war as a continuation of military conflict waged against Iran by the US and Israel.
Characterizing the move as reprehensible “state terrorism” and a crime against humanity, the ministry said it puts the health and livelihoods of millions of civilians at serious risk. It also accused the UN system and member states of failing to adequately respond to violations of international law by Washington and Israel, which it warned has encouraged further violations.
The ministry stated that Iran remains determined to use all available means to defend the country against this combined US-Israeli military and economic campaign.
